Chapter Eighteen

Delilah

I awoke in the middle of the night with a nagging sense of ‘oh sweet fudgecicles, what did I do?’ pounding in my head. I had sex with Richard again… four times. In one night! I hadn’t thought that was possible. As I shifted on the bed, I felt little twinges of pain in places I hadn’t even realized existed.

Despite my internal freak out, I couldn’t stop a tiny smile from curving my lips. I pulled some moves last night that would have made a porn star applaud. Who knew I had that in me? And why, why did it take a man who would probably end up breaking me, if I hung around long enough to let him, to pull that part of me out and into the light?

I needed to get out of there. Well, first I needed to pee. Like, bad, then I needed to get out of there.

I held my breath as I slowly tried to scoot out of Richard’s hold. I didn’t even allow myself the time to appreciate just how perfectly he was spooning me. My entire relationship with Brant, I’d always wanted to be the little spoon to his big one, but he had a thing about not wanting to touch while sleeping, so I never got that particular wish.

Richard Locklaine was a spooner. He also had the power to give me multiple orgasms on top of orgasms. Yeah, he was definitely hazardous for my heart. He was just too perfect. And seeing as I’d been a jerk magnet my entire life, I knew that perfection was just a smokescreen. It eventually disappeared, leaving me feeling bereft.

Before I could move so much as an inch, his arm around my waist tightened like a bar on a rollercoaster. “Mmm,” he hummed sleepily. “Where you going?” His sleep-raspy voice made me shiver as an electric shock traveled down between my legs. Dear Buddha, the man was even sexy in his sleep.

I whispered my lie. “Bathroom. I have to pee.” His arm loosened and he placed a chaste kiss on my shoulder.

“’Kay, baby. Hurry back.”

I slid from beneath the sheets and stood at the side of the bed, staring down at the gorgeous man (somewhat blurry without my glasses), already fast asleep once again. Tiptoeing to the attached restroom, I did my business as quietly as possible and washed my hands before turning out the light and heading back into the bedroom. Richard’s delicate snore told me he was out like a light. I moved at a snail’s pace, trying not to make any noise that could disturb him, but mainly because I couldn’t see much of anything without my glasses. Once I’d located all my clothes that had been strewn across the bedroom floor, I shuffled in the direction of his nightstand where I was pretty sure he’d stashed my glasses.

The drawer gave a tiny creak, causing me to freeze as my heart beat rapidly in my chest. Richard threw an arm across his eyes, but other than that, didn’t move.
